Energy monitors provide historic and real time energy use of various equipment. They often use sensors in the breaker box to record energy use of individual circuits. Large load equipment such as minisplits, clothes dryers, water heaters, ranges, and ev chargers are typically on dedicated circuits allowing for disaggregation by end use. The data is valuable for optimizing energy use whether it’s for load shifting, identifying reduction opportunities, or tracking down excessive use.
